    Upcoming Anime Season Winter 2021

Slightly early for this thread, but hey Titan airs in less than a week.

And Winter 2021 is stacked. I'm listing the continuing shows I'll be watching. I don't even know if I'll have time for new shows.

    Titan
    Promised Neverland.
    Dr Stone.
    Tensei Slime
    Re:Zero
    Beastars
    Log Horizon
    Non Non Biyori

I can't believe Hataraku Saibou is getting not one but TWO series. I watched an episode here and there during its first run and it was so-so.

Wow, that actually looks like a good season again for once!

Here's what I'll watch for sure:

    - Attack on Titan Final Season
    - Yakusoku no Neverland S2
    - Dr. Stone S2
    - Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken S2
    - Re:Zero S2-part 2
    - Beastars S2
    - Log Horizon S3
    - Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu (the plot sounds like an isekai parody, and the trailer looks like there's ZERO reason for this to be an isekai instead of simply a regular fantasy anime, but animation is actually nice, so I'll give it a try)
    - Back Arrow (a genuine fantasy anime? nice)
    - Evangelion 3.0+1.0 (most important anime event of the year, no competition)

Btw. I'm having surgery on December 7th, nothing too serious, but anesthesia is always risky for someone of my massive weight, so ... just wanted to thank you all for the time here, in case something goes wrong. This has always been my number 1 place to discuss anime, even if it became very quiet in recent years. I don't know if it can be reversed, but if our Gotwoot-admin allowed registration again, I could ask some ex-HorribleSubs disqus members if they wanna talk about anime here. But that's for after the surgery, can't think of anything else right now So ... see ya and have fun!

"She's the only non-loli girl in the show, your honor!" will be my defense in court

Mushoku Tensei is one of the best isekai series around, particularly in scope... will have to see how it's adapted. The series is finished, so if they're inclined to do so, they can adapt the full thing.

So I'm a Spider, So What? is another favorite of mine, but I don't think the adaption is going to work very well unless we get plenty of inner voice narration (which honestly should be inevitable, she's a great narrator), plus I think the CGI is going to suck. Will cross my fingers... ~~nai wa~~

Glad to see the return of Log Horizon, particularly after the legal troubles from the author. Hopefully this also means that publishers will be forgiving him and continue publishing his series (I think they have).

I read the first novel of The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter, it's pure shit. Don't bother with it.

    Kemono Jihen looks great.

Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies moved to a starter town?, it's crap, but maybe it can be entertaining animated, in a light hearted comedy kind of way... I doubt it.

I've heard good things about Otherside Picnic, but have not read any of it.

And quite a few sequels coming out which I'm really looking forward to, but these ones I thought merited some discussion. Have to read more on the other unknowns to see what they're all about.

@MFauli good luck, and keep us updated. Hope to see you around again soon after. Even if registrations are closed, I'm sure there should be a way to manually create accounts if needed be.

@Mfauli - If you don't mind me asking, what is the surgery for? A lot of health issues are strongly correlated with mental state, so be positive and hang in there!

Mushoku Tensei has a huge following, but I never went past the start of the school arc. It was just so... boring and long-winded.

That's where the official translations are at currently, first novel upon his arrival at school and even as I enjoy the series, there's a lot of "what could've been" double guessing of it for me.

I just like the idea of going through his life from being born as a baby, childhood, puberty, etc. and I think he's a very good narrator. But, at least so far, considering how talented he was since the beginning, lots of wasteful potential that grates me. Even so, love reading it and the novels are quite short, so I can read them without much burden once they come out.

I read the web novel translation, so it may be better in the LN form.

"Hernia" is the english term, I believe, "Leistenbruch" in German. Nothing big at all, really. But as a I said, it's the anesthesia that scares me, which becomes riskier the more you weigh ... and I weigh a lot ...

Anyway, thx, guys. I'll report back (if possible sadlol! )

Hmm, wonder if your anesthetist considered an epidural for your case instead if a GA (General anaethesia) carries significant risk with your BMI.

Slime Datta Ken - This I probably can keep watching.
Hataraku Saibou / BLACK - I'll try to keep watching these, seeing how I liked the first season.
Log Horizon - I can probably keep watching, unless it's even worse than the second season.
Mushoku Tensei - I'll definitely keep watching, unless it's a really bad adaptation.
Kumo desu ga, Nani ka? - I'll make a real effort to keep watching, unless the adaptation sucks.
Non Non Biyori: Nonstop - I'll see if the magic is still there. My tastes might have changed, though.
Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi - I'll have a look at this. One of the heavier edgelord series.
Horimiya - I'll just check out the first ep to see the story animated/voiced. If I can be bothered to.

Mushoku Tensei would definitely need to be 24 eps to reach the school arc, right?

Kraco, when you call Log Horizon S2 bad, do you mean the lack of focus or something else? Because imo the only (but big) problem was the lack of focus, jumping between places and plot threads, then ending on a total nonsensical cliffhanger.

Since the first season was so good, the flaws of the second season appeared subjectively worse. I've rewatched the first season, but I feel no desire to rewatch the second season. It feels like the second season barely had any substance exactly because of the total lack of focus and failing expectations. If felt like a bunch of Naruto fillers after a good canon arc.

Like, seriously. I think this is the only time, ever, in my life that something I'm watching comes out EVERY DAY.

It has been a very enjoyable season, though I think it has benefited a lot from series that were delayed last year and somehow ended up here. We have the final season of Attack on Titan too, which makes it even better (though I'm waiting until it ends to watch it).

In all, an awesome start to 2021 anime wise, though I think it'll be difficult for the rest of the year to measure up. And there are quite a few that I know are great and I just haven't decided to watch them yet (Neverland, Dr. Stone, etc.)

What do you have for tomorrow? Today I had Titan and Mushoku, but tomorrow nothing. Also on the day after Kumo desu ga, nothing. Recommendations welcome.

Tomorrow I watch Last Dungeon, probably not to your liking... just a series to not give much thought to and hope the comedy delivers some.

Have been curious about Otherside Picnic since I see it mentioned a few times in LN discussions, but haven't heard much on the anime. If I were up to date, I'd watch Uma Musume, but haven't been in the mood to come back to it.

Day after Kumo I watch Horimiya, not my kind of series, but whatever.

Has Boruto become any better than the first 50 episodes? That's where I stopped because it just felt like Naruto-filler mixed with Pokemon-anime level of non-danger.

    No.

The only "good" arc so far was the Sarada/Sakura arc. But the next big canon arc they've been teasing since the start just started.
