If Naruto dies then the Kyubi dies as well. Naruto used this fact as leverage to get the Kyubi to lend him some chakra when he was pushed off the cliff by Jiraiya and had to summon Gamabunta back during the Chuunin Exam arc.

I think you are right.
When man invented the bicycle he reached the peak of his attainments. Here was a machine of precision and balance for the convenience of man. And (unlike subsequent inventions for man's convenience) the more he used it, the fitter his body became.
